So I just got back from watching the new Carrie movie. I went to the cinema with low expectations, and I'm glad I did. For those of you that know me or have followed me on numerous social networking sites. You will know my hatred for remakes, especialy movies that are close to my heart. Carrie being one of them.
The only remake I have enjoyed lately was The Evil Dead, probably because it was the same guys making a different movie.
I'm going to try and review the movie without spoiling it, not that you can spoil a story/movie that's been out for YEARS!
What was wrong with the movie?
Firstly, Chloe Moretz. This girl is an AMAZING actress, but she was a terrible Carrie. Her looks aren't right for this role and she just didn't blow my mind :( I said she was the wrong choice from the beginning!
Secondly, It was almost a scene for scene remake of the original, with a couple of parts thrown in from the book. I was expecting something different.
Thirdly, and maybe this is me getting old or something, but it's aimed at a completely different generation. I am an 80's horror movie girl at heart and I think I just need to accept that movies aren't made like that anymore, There was also a lack of scares, it all just seemed to kick in 20 minutes before it ended.
What was good about the movie?
Julianne Moore, She owned the part of Margaret and gave me goosebumps everytime she opened her mouth, she was so creepy and guuuuh. I love her.
It was "slightly" closer to the book, if the book was set in 2013.
I don't have many good points to make, although the film wasn't up to scratch but my standards it was still a good Stephen King scare story.
I'm going to rate it 4/10, it's worth one watch, but that's about it.
All opinions in this review are those of my own, please go and see the movie and make your own mind up too :)
Thanks for reading!
